wedding wednesday : save the dates

That right there's our save the dates. I totally love how they turned out. Luxurious duplexed letterpress on Crane paper tucked into a sleeve sewn out of a beautiful handmade, dyed paper ... and I thiiink Duncan is impressed. He is saying "Totes, the bomb!" And I never say this, but that 'ish is my property, so if you post the images, please link back to me. Thank you, kindly!

wedding wednesday : drink dispensers

As I mentioned before, I want to create a comfortable vibe at our wedding reception. We want guests to feel compelled to kick off their shoes and make themselves at home... well, as at home as we're allowed to be in an art museum! I thought one nice way to do that would be self-serve water with citrus, tea, etc. in some modern drink dispensers. I don't want it to look country-chic, so we opted for numero 3, whose shape I just love!

It was important that the dispenser be sturdy and have a spot to hang a tag (out goes number 1!) I got three and I'm planning on having one monogrammed if all goes according to plan ;)

P.S. Save the dates next week!

wedding wednesday : sneak peek

Hey ya'll. So our save the dates went out yesterday! And while I got mine today (that's right, I sent myself one), I don't want to spoil it in case others haven't yet received it. So for now, just a sneaky peeky.

I haven't been the best at these Wedding Wednesday posts the past two weeks. You see, Chris and I started volunteering at a local no-kill dog shelter every Wednesday evening. Not the best timing on my part, but I. Will. Do. Bettahhhh. Anyway, looking to adopt a dog in the Cinci area? Check 'em out at Save the Animals Foundation. You'll fall in love. They're the best.

wedding wednesday : venue & decor

Our ceremony will be held at my childhood church in my hometown and our reception will be a half-hour away at the Taft Museum of Art. It's in downtown Cincinnati and has a beautiful, tented garden area where the reception will be held.

I really want to create an enchanting, playful, comfortable vibe and I'm thinking some strand lights will really add to the ambiance, and hopefully distract from the metal bars of the structure. I've nearly ruled out the draping, thinking that the combo of the lights and the draping is a little too ... cheesy?? for me. Cheesy might not be the right word. It can be beautiful. Just not modern enough for me.

Now I just have to decide which lights to use: twinkle (Christmas light sized) or larger bulb-sized strands, or a combo. Then, how many to use and where exactly?

Any opinions out there? I'd LOVE (love, love, love) to hear 'em!

Taste it.

We had the food tasting tonight for the wedding and paired it with some of the wines that will be served. So. Good. That is how it is possible that the only pic I took was during clean-up. Too distracted by the deliciousness. Hope you all have a great weekend and happy fathers day!

I selected the dress for my bridesmaids! I love it and hope they do too! Above are some of my favorites, including the final one. For now, I'm leaving my actual selection a surprise.

Pretty Princess

You guys, I bought a wedding dress on Saturday. Eee! (seems like an appropriate sound effect.) I'm dying to share, but I do need to leave it a surprise for some. So, here's a little peek that really doesn't reveal much at all. I did, however, show much more on my Instagram, so Chris, no cheating!

happy feet

You might be wondering why I haven't told you all much about our wedding plans. I'm wondering the same. So, here goes, baby steps.
1. We have a date and it's over a year away
2. I bought shoes for our engagement party and pictures and I love them.

Lovely, no? And I only fell once trying them on ;) Wish me luck!

Be my bridesmaid? DIY

There's a good chance you've seen this ADORABLE diy making its way around the web, but it was too cute not to share. Bethany of Rinse, Repeat made these "be my maid?" boxes to send her prospective bridesmaids. Being an attendant in a wedding can be quite a big deal (emotionally, monetarily, physically), so it's fitting to make the asking a big deal to!

Totes adorbs, no? (p.s. Am I allowed to say that without you wanting to punch me?)
