weekend recap

Ya'll I had the BEST weekend in Nashville. Had I any emotional or physical energy left on Sunday night, I would have cried myself to sleep because it was over. But, I didn't. Instead, I passed out.
1. The perfect trunk contents. Luggage, bachelorette's gift, cowboy hat.
2. Wonderful gas station treasures.
3. Local Nashville Hefeweizen at lunch on Friday.
4. Broadway Street - so much character

1. Naturally
2. Some of my lovely friends
3. When I got home, it turned out I wasn't the only one who had a few late nights!
4. Post-weekend grocery trip. So many veggies!

Also, I hardly ever post about music, but ya'll (there it is again), we saw the River City Gang, Sam Hayes' band, both nights. He/they rock, literally. If you're into country music, check 'em out!

I mean, c'mon! I can't say any more. Chris is already asking about my country boyfriend ;)

weekend-ing

So, you guys. If you're reading this any time after around noon on Friday, I'm probably laying by a pool in Nashville for my friend's bachelorette. ((serious happy dance!))
The happy dance probably looks a little like this. Me 'n' all my frannns might do that together. Fo' realsies.
Also, I finally figured out what it takes me forever to pack.

(Duncan LOVES chevron.) Have a great weekend!

weekend recap

So this weekend I made quite possibly the creepiest gift ever. It was a gift for our favorite about to be two-year old's birthday party. Don't judge. He grabbed an eye as soon as we walked in the door ;)

I had one of the best meals of my life with my family at Cumin. Besides the lovely company, the food was the bomb-diggity. Yeah, I said it. I had the most delicious lobster and finished it off with a gourmet root beer float. So good. If you're in the 'Nati and you haven't been, ya should!

Saturday I went to Amy Kirchen, an adorable boutique with even more adorable clothes, with my sister . And today we prepped for our garage sale we're having in a few weeks! Gettin' ready for another manic Monday. Hope yours is splendid!

weekend recap

My sis and I refinished a couple tables. It was our first attempt, and they didn't turn out too shabby! We followed this tutorial on refreshing vintage wood from The Brick House.

I had lotsa cuddle time with the bestest.

I indulged a bit. My sister brought donuts over on Sunday morning, and I devoured some deep fried Oreos at a church festival on Friday. One of my favorites. Love 'em. P.S. I'm so awkward when I take photos by myself. Poor Chris had to take 4 pics just to get this one.

We went to visit and snap some pics of our reception venue. More to come on Wednesday! And we've begun a Sunday dinner tradition. This week we made Roasted Vegetable Baked Penne and Chicken Meatballs. I'm stuffed and ready for Monday!

my weekend..

Hello, all! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was lovely but seemed to pass so quickly. I was so tired from the week that I fell asleep at 5:30 after work on Friday. Needless to say, I didn't do much that night.
Saturday night we went to a bike race/street festival in our neighborhood. Obviously, Chris held a bird...
And Sunday night I grilled a colorful dinner...
Hopefully you all have work off on the 4th and are beginning a short week!

it's getting hot in here..

See? Proof via the iPhone

That is my fav weather app, swackett. If not for this app, I would forget my dog needs water in 101 degree weather.

Also, I meant to blog about this after Father's Day, but I forgot because I suck. The title was going to be "I accidentally got drunk on Father's Day" or maybe "I accidentally got my mom drunk on Father's Day." Either way, the point is this champagne cocktail and the fact that it's stronger than I thought and my mom and I were the only ones enjoying it.
So, anyway, I do recommend it. I omitted the vodka for my second drink and quite liked it. You could scale back or take out the vodka if you don't want to accidentally get drunk at 2pm. Or maybe you do. I won't judge. Drink it this weekend.

Finally, do somma this this weekend.

Chicago Weekend

I had a very long, 5-day weekend for my cousin's wedding in Chicago last weekend. Here's a little peak:
We had brunch at The Heartland Cafe on Thursday and Friday. So pretty and unique.

I took a nice, long, windows-down, wind in your hair afternoon drive with my dad to see the areas where he grew up. Nothing like hearing stories of how your dad chipped his tooth riding a bike on a specific hill, spied on girls' slumber parties from specific woods, and went to the specific beach (above) in his youth. Cherish the memories.

So I ordered this drink from iNG restaurant, which my family stumbled upon while looking for a pub for burgers and beer. We knew from the word "orange acrylic chairs" that we had taken a different path. This. Drink. Was good. And complicated. Pour the shot into the center on top of the ... bitter balls?? Then put the powder on your tongue and wait for it to dissolve, Then suck the lime. And then ...you drink. I tried to get a good pic, but didn't have much success. Hopefully you can see okay!

I had the most delicious bloody mary(s) at brunch on Chris's birthday, Saturday, and experienced Lagunitas beer for the first time. Yum to both!

We took an architectural boat tour.

The wedding was absolutely the most personal and unique ceremony I've ever seen. It was held in a park overlooking the lake. I took video the whole time, so I don't have any pics of the beautiful couple.

And finally, lots of family time!

We're headed to Chicago for one of Chris's college friend's weddings. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

my sisters gave me a ten minute

time limit when we walked into a lovely thrift shop this weekend during a sister weekend at OSU. That illustrates my life well. Loving vintage home items. Slow. And indecisive. I could have bought SO. MANY. THINGGGS.

It was awesome and about 20 minutes later I walked out with these two gems.

Lurve them and they are still searching for a comfortable place to rest in our abode. After that, we ate dinner and spent the night in bars where the restroom was "decorated" like this:
and the beer looked like this:
To finish off the night we crashed a college house party, ate a cheesy bread "pizza" and officially crashed for the night at 4 am. I can still hang, people. Also, there's this:
The best.

I might stop using titles because I suck at them

Hello everyone! I hope you've had a good week. Here is some of what's been going on with me lately.

1. One pretty flower out of a bouquet my mom got me (they were all pretty, not just the one.)
2. Our first wedding gift! This lovely vase.
3. My fav summer beer is back. Love-hate relationship right now, as I'm trying to be healthier!
4. Writing some thank you notes from us.
5. Our engagement (beer tasting) party invites.
6. Wanting to eat firemen Learning about fire trucks.

Oh, and 7. Thinking about not using titles on my blog because I. Can't. Ever. Think. Of. Anything. Any of you bloggers have the same problem?

Hope you have a lovely weekend, and Happy Easter!

out to eat

We went out to eat for my momma's birthday last week and it was da bomb-diggity. If you're in the Cincinnati area a trip to 20 Brix in Milford will not disappoint.

Oh, and that wine? Delicious!

Happy weekend!

I hope you had a great week and are having a wonderful start to your weekend! My week was lovely and consisted of some workout time with my sis and lots of girlfriend time! We went out for a delicious tapas-style belated birthday dinner. Tonight, I'll be resting to fight off this cold I feel coming!

Happy Valentines

I have such a love-hate relationship with this holiday and this year it was mostly love. While I had a Thai food eating, Notebook watching, sweatpants wearing night with a girlfriend, I set Duncan up on a blind date. It was love. He's tired from impressing his new lady friend and I'm tired from swooning over Ryan Gosling! (I am a bird) We hope you had a holiday filled with things you love, too!
