time trouble
A couple of mornings ago began somewhat like this: Grumble, grumble, I love bed, grumble, grumble, and everyone knows it. Quick glance towards the window. Hmm (internal dialogue speaking here) why is the window light? It is supposed to be pitch black out. Hmm. Put hoodie on. Walk downstairs. Wonder aloud why it is so bright outside. Look at the clock. What?? It's eight o'clock? How did that happen? The microwave clock must have changed itself! Wander to television. Eight-oh-one! What? All of the clocks changed themselves overnight!? Turn on the news. Eight-oh-two! What happened?? Run out the door. As it turns out, the semi-smart appliance changed the bedroom time a week before daylight savings time, giving us an extra hour before we deserved it! There was no fairy who wandered about changing all clocks. However; we could have used ... all ... of these charming clocks.

2010 calendars
Hola everybody! decor8 posted their annual calendar round-up last week, with such convenient timing! A bordering on OCD planner like myself, really prefers to have things in order and no calendar three months into the future creates a little anxiety. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my calendar selection. My day planner needs to have the months, in blocks and preferably some blank pages. It doesn't sound like such a tall order, but most planner are broken down into weekly or hourly calendars, which I just don't need. My wall calendar needs to be somewhat similar. I just need a box to write in each day. The little cd-case desk calendars and wall calendar without blocks can be super cute, but just don't work for me. Whew! So, here are my top picks, which I will hopefully choose and order this week!

See how hard my choice is! My only concern with day planners in general is the bindery. Whatever I choose will definitely be put to good use! Check out decor8 for plenty more wonderful choices.

Love Story Meets Viva La Vida
I am LOVING this. Seriously beautiful. Grab a cup of coffee and wait until you have the full 8 minutes and 4 seconds to listen! The last bit is some commentary, which is worth hearing. And by worth hearing, I mean that I teared up at Jon Schmidt's explanation. I am such a sap. On second thought, only listen to the commentary if you are a big sap too and not if you will point and laugh. Really though, I think if everyone listened to this before starting their day, the world would be a happier place!

blue bedroom
When I see a room that I like, I know that I am drawn to it immediately, but sometimes I don't know why. Some photos take a longer look to notice the details that make a room stand out. Case in point: I looked at this photo and was immediately a fan, but it look a longer gaze to see that on the side of the bed are panels, possibly wallpapered or with fabric adhered, that really bring the room together. The monochromatic look of the blue headboard and wall is wonderful alone, but the panels really complete the look. And how easy! I might have to try this, hopefully sooner than later!

diy wreath
I am LOVING this wreath how-to that I spotted on the blog of CB2. It would make a great personalized gift that you could make in so many different color schemes. Now to make it all worth while, we need a source for really cheap glass ornaments.... Possibly these, these, these or these from Target.
images: CB2
Here is the how-to from CB2:
Supplies:
1. Strong stiff wire that can be bent into a ring. We used aluminum wire gauge 20, about 55” long–due to the scale of the products in the shot, our wreath was rather large, about 28″ in diameter. A wire hanger is also a simple way to go.

2. Ornaments. We used a total of 81 ornaments. For a smaller version, we’re guessing you could make a 14” wreath with about a third of the ornaments depending on how full you wanted it.
3. Strong tape to fasten the ends of the wire ring together or, pliers to twist the ends of the wire ring together.
4. Ribbon to hang the wreath
Directions:
1. String one ornament at a time onto the wire ring, alternating colors, using smaller ones to fill in the gaps.
2. When the ring is completely covered in ornaments, fasten the ends together.
3. Use a ribbon to cover the spot where the ends are fastened together, and hang!
Tip: best not to go too large in diameter as the wreath could become too heavy and stretch out.

up!
I'm back, blogging and things are looking up! I had bronchitis last week and spent the better part of my would-be waking hours getting some shut eye. Glad to be back and I hope you haven't abandoned me!
Oh, and this balloon image wasn't intended to break the ice about the little boy in the balloon fiasco, but I will say that if they end up with a reality show I may just abandon television completely.

bad timing
I'm feeling under the weather and this weekend I am supposed to go see *almost all of* my very best friends for my alma mater's homecoming. I'm resting up so I can attend one of my fav weekends of the year. This statement is especially true right now:

Friday, Friday
Hellooo Friday! I am pumped for this weekend. You might recall that I went to the Cincinnati Kings of Leon show back in May. My boyfriend bought us tickets and when his great-grandmother passed away, he was unable to make the show. So for his birthday, I bought him tickets for this weekend, which you also might remember.
I will be spending some quality time in Kentucky this weekend. First at the (horse) race track and then at the show. Happy weekend, to you!

almost the weekend
I hope everyone is having a great Thursday! Moving into the weekend, I am definitely excited. I completed four loads of laundry last night, some while watching Modern Family. Anyone else tuning into this new show? It is seriously hilarious and if you aren't already watching, you should start! Anyway, starting the weekend with the laundry already done is wonderful. And happy birthday to my dear friend, Kaitlin! If I were with you today, I would give you these flowers...

diy dresser
I always like browsing the diy website. They have some great projects, and I also love looking at the variety of looks that one piece of furniture have. A few coats of paint, new knobs or pulls and a different vision can transform a piece. This dresser is just one example, starting with a basic white and taking on three great looks.
This one is a little too youthful for my taste, but I really appreciate the look. With a new color to replace the blue, I would really love it. How-to begins here.
I really like this brown one, particularly in its surroundings! What gorgeous decor! How-to begins here.
This last one has to be my favorite re-do for this dresser. It totally reminds me of something you would find in Coastal Living. I am aching to try this look! How-to begins here.

Bubba's Beer Biscuits
Hello all! Did you have a good weekend? Mine was wonderful. Yesterday was the art show for my neighborhood, which is right down the street from me. My mom was an exhibitor and I was able to walk down to visit her and the other artists. Then I made homemade chicken pot pie and Bubba's Beer Biscuits from Paula Deen. It was a great Sunday! I got this recipe from a friend who had us over for dinner a couple months ago. So delicious! So easy!
The how-to: Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Mix 4 cups biscuit mix (recommended: Bisquick), 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar, 1 (12-ounce) can of beer and 2 tablespoons butter, melted. Adjust the sugar according to how sweet a biscuit you prefer. Pour into well-greased muffin tins. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with honey butter.
I did not see the honey butter recipe when I made these, but it sounds like the perfect compliment. Allow 1/2 pound butter to soften to room temperature. Using an electric mixer whip the butter and 2 tablespoons honey together until well mixed and smooth.
Serve the biscuits while still warm with the honey butter.
Easy peasy! Enjoy!
